SuREmMa+ - Integrative economic and environmental assessment of measures for mitigating hydropeaking - hydraulic / morphological analysis
Description
The SuREmMa project developed a tool for assessing the ecological impact of man-made runoff fluctuations in the SuREmMa + project to: a) record the actual hydro-morphological status in impacted rivers, b) define different scenarios in the context of potentially mitigation measures and c) assess the expected environmental impact taking additional morphological measures into account. The river-specific characteristics where discussed in detail, at the catchment level (e.g., unaffected hydrological conditions, sediment regime) and on the small-scale scale (eg spawning habitats, small-scale morphological structures), in order to derive the most efficient package of measures for hydropeaking mitigation. The obtained results should serve as a basis for the definition of the targeted status according to the EU Water Framework Directive.
