HERI – Research Actions Database

Welcome to the HERI Research Actions Database. The database provides details of past and present research actions related to all aspects of hydropower. The database has been structured following the categorisation developed for the HYDROPOWER EUROPE research and innovation agenda, and Strategic Industry Roadmap.

The database contents have been collated from a variety of organisations working on research actions across all sectors of the hydropower industry. The information has been share freely and is available as open access. You can search the database or add details of new initiatives to the database via the buttons below.

ÖkoResch: Achievement of good ecological potential in high alpine residual water sections and flow-affected waters

Description

The EU Water Framework Directive (EU-WFD) has established specific environmental objectives for water bodies that are threatened by pollution. This research project aims to provide the foundation for defining Good Ecological Potential in flow-affected and residual water sections in high alpine regions. Within this project, the ecological impact of various scenario measures will be examined, and a concept for defining Good Ecological Potential in high alpine residual water sections, along with a corresponding ecological monitoring program, will be developed. The information gained will ultimately be available for the creation of practical guidelines, which will include the methodology for a) conducting variant studies for measure determination and b) performing ecological monitoring for the timely review of measure success and target state.
